Fedele receives Excellence Award

Faculty member David Fedele is 2017 Recipient of the University of Florida Excellence Award for Assistant Professors

On April 24, 2017, Joseph Glover, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for the University of Florida, announced that our colleague David Fedele had been named this year’s recipient of the UF Excellence Award for Assistance Professors.

Dr. Glover wrote: “…The committee focused on the quality and innovativeness of the research, and sought to balance the diverse intellectual streams the candidates represented. In the course of the committee’s deliberations, Dr. Fedele emerged as being uniquely worthy of this award.”

Per the award web page at http://aa.ufl.edu/awards/excellence-awards-for-assistant-professors/, ten awards are made annually. Excellence Awards for Assistant Professors or Assistant Curators is a one-time allocation of $5,000 in support of research. The award can be used to fund travel, equipment, books, graduate student stipends, and other research-related expenses.

This year’s judging committee was made up of Dr. David Sappington, Eminent Scholar, Director, Robert F. Lanzillotti Public Research Center, Department of Economics, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and Dr. Barry W. Ache, Distinguished Professor Neuroscience and Biology, Director of the UF Center for Smell & Taste, Whitney Laboratory.
