CHP Graduate Student Wins 2 More National Conference Awards

Joshua Owens

Joshua Owens, a fourth-year Neuropsychology student, has received two competitive travel awards. At the Michigan Center for Contextual Factors in Alzheimers Disease summer data workshop, Joshua will participate in intensive analytic training to use secondary data sources for supplementary publications and grant applications in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD).

At the Advanced Psychometric Methods in Cognitive Aging Research conference in Tahoe City, funded by the National Institute on Aging, trainees will focus on Bayesian approaches to modeling cognition. Joshua also attended in 2022.

Joshua is wrapping up a two-year NIA-funded fellowship to enhance diversity. The study examines the relationship between social determinants of health and brain aging in the 1Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Center. Joshua is also a recipient of travel fellowships to the 2023 Black Men’s Brain Health conference and a 2021 early-career mentoring workshop at the University of Michigan.
